BC Food Processors Health and Safety Council

The BC Food Processors Health and Safety Council invited Steve Grimmett, one of our ergonomics consultants, to participate in the filming of their educational safety DVD.  He is featured within the ergonomics section of the  DVD, and also contributed to the companion workbook.

The BCFPA Safety and Human Resources Committee developed a training tool that provides a visual component to introducing health & safety concepts for new employees in the food industry.  This 42 minute DVD delivers an original program of instruction designed to compliment new employee orientation training.  The training DVD is segmented into 6 modules to allow specific information from each employer to be introduced following each segment.

The modules include:

1)Introduction.
2)Worker & Employer Rights, Roles & Responsibilities.
3)Safety Programs & Procedures.
4)Emergencies & Emergency Preparedness.
5)Ergonomics.
6)Summary.

The BC Food Processors Health & Safety Council was incorporated in December 2007 with the support of the Food Processing Industry. The goal of the Safety Council is the reduce the unacceptably high injury rate in the industry. The injury rate in the food processing industry is 50% higher than that of the manufacturing sector as a whole, and twice that of all BC industries combined.
